The last couple of months, my blogs about Sisi have been quite popular. This is probably due to the release of different movies/series on for instance Netflix. I’m often asked about how I got to know so much about Sisi and actually my answer is quite simple, by reading books. I thought it would be nice to share some interesting readings.

The Empress Elisabeth of Austria
by Karl Tschuppik, Eric Sutton (translation) (kindle edition)

This is the english translation of the book written in 1929 about her life.

Another book suggestion, if you love historical details, would be :

The Reluctant Empress: A biography of Empress Elisabeth of Austria
by Brigitte Hamann (kindle edition)

Twilight of Empire – the tragedy at Mayerling and the End of the Habsburg
by Greg King, Penny Wilson (hardcover)

This book is about Sisi’s son Crown Prince Rudolph who is found dead on the 30th of January 1889 in Mayerling.

Another book on her son Rudolph, available in Kindle is:
The Road to Mayerling: Life and Death of Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria
by Richard Barkeley (kindle edition)

Marie-Antoinette and Count Fersen: The Untold Love Story
by Evelynn Farr

A new edition draws on fresh evidence from archive sources—including decoded secret correspondence—to peel back the layers of misinformation obscuring the Queen’s great love affair and to reveal its impact on the destiny of the French Royal Family
